Median rhomboid glossitis (glossitis rhomboidea mediana) is a lesion on the surface of the tongue, located along the midline anterior to the circumvallate papillae and possibly elevated. The lesion is red, usually smooth-surfaced, and has a rhomboid or oval shape.
