Granuloma annulare may occur as single nodules but also as annular eruptions like in this picture. The progressively spreading active border may erroneously lead the diagnostic thoughts towards a fungal infection. Biopsy is a useful investigation if the diagnostic option is suggested to the pathologist – the histopathological changes are scarce but diagnostic as such. A biopsy may also trigger the healing process. It is often worthwhile to wait for spontaneous healing.
