Extensive venous ulcer with a map-like pattern at the lateral aspect of the leg. The removal of covering membranes by topical treatment has been successful, and islets of new skin have appeared in the ulcerated area. There is no swelling, so e.g. skin grafting might be an effective treatment to speed up healing.
