Steatocystoma refers to a sebum-filled expansion of a sebaceous gland attached to a hair follicle. Steatocystoma multiplex is the hereditary form, and the most common location is the chest. The occlusions are congenital but become more visible only after puberty. Acne rosacea may be associated with similar hypertrophic enlargements of the sebaceous gland in the nose (rhinophyma).
