Psoriasis is reddish, has well-defined margins and extends over the edge of the sole. Vesicles associated with eczematous eruption are lacking. Scaling is not pronounced at the margins as it is in dermatophytosis. The diagnosis is difficult to establish if there are no psoriatic changes elsewhere in the skin. Even biopsy is not always diagnostic.
