Rubbed, lichenified atopic eczema on the wrist. As a result of rubbing the skin is thickened and reddened, and the skinfolds become prominent. The skin is partly broken and inflamed. Scabies should be borne in mind: look for itch mite burrows when you see a wrist scratched like this, if Besnier’s prurigo is not readily the evident diagnosis.
