Cylindroma on the nose. A significantly more common location is the scalp. Actually, the change is a benign neoplasm originating from the hair follicle and also including structures of sweat glands. Malignant transformations are very rare. The surface is smooth and has the colour of the skin. The surface is criss-crossed by teleangiectases, and the neoplasm greatly resembles a basal cell carcinoma. It is not, however, continuously growing like a basal cell carcinoma, and the surface is not as prone to abrasion when rubbed. A punch biopsy from the centre of the nodule confirms the diagnosis.
