Spitz naevus, spindle cell naevus, is a benign skin tumour of childhood. Erroneously it has earlier been called "juvenile melanoma", which should now be avoided to avoid therapeutic and prognostic confusion. The colour may vary from dark pigmented to pink red. Excision with small margins for histopathologic study is the preferable therapy.
