The above patient three months after surgery for ASD. Rapid recovery, appetite, mental alertness, and physical performance have all improved. ECG no longer has right side loading and chest radiograph and echocardiography show that the size of the heart has returned to normal. On auscultation a clear murmur is no longer heard nor is the second heart sound pathologically split. This is also seen on the phono- and spectrograms. With careful auscultation and study of the graphs a periodical first-degree midsystolic physiological murmur may be detected. Age 5.3 years, height 108.0 cm, weight 16.0 kg. Area of auscultation: left second ic (LIC2).
