As a newborn this child had a murmur, which has been followed up at the out-patient clinic. The first chest radiograph showed a fairly large heart, which was probably a summation shadow of the thymus. For some time the murmur was inaudible, but at the age of 2 it became audible again. ECG, later chest radiograph, BP measurements and echocardiography were repeatedly normal. On auscultation a typical second-degree melodious vibration is heard. Phonogram shows an early-midsystolic murmur and the spectrogram shows a configuration with a maximum frequency of 180-200 Hz. Age 2.2 years, height 84.0 cm, weight 12.0 kg. Auscultation area: left fourth intercostal space (LIC4).
