The patient noticed the erythema migrans lesion (9 x 14 cm) in his left thigh 3 days before the picture was taken. The patient did not remember a tick bite. Note the pale central area around the bite. Borreliosis (B. afzelii) was verified (for research purposes) by culture from a biopsy taken from the lesion.
