Lichen striatus is an inflammatory linear dermatitis of unknown origin. It affects mainly children. Spontaneous regression usually takes place in a few months, but a 1 - 2-week course of potent topical corticoids may be used, especially if itching is troublesome and if the lesions tend to persist. Lichen striatus is not a subgroup of lichen planus. Biopsy helps to exclude other linear dermatoses.
