Previously damaged nail has been invaded by fungal growth for more than 20 years. The KOH specimen was positive and repeated culture yielded an abundant and pure growth of the mold Aspergillus candidus. The nail plate was sectioned for histological examination. Invasion of the nail plate was seen. After nail ablation a 1-month course of terbinafine was given. The new nail growth was normal with no sign of previous damage in the nail contour.
