"Atopic winter foot", juvenile plantar dermatosis (JPD), is common in young boys. The skin of the contact surface of feet (and fingers) may be irritated, scaling, often also fissuring and painful. Views on whether this is a form of contact allergy vary greatly. JPD regularly heals spontaneously in some years, which does not suggest contact allergy. Topical corticosteroids and emollients help when waiting for the eventual spontaneous cure.
