Urinary retention in an elderly man. The height of the urinary bladder measures 6.7 cm in a transverse ultrasonographic picture, the width measures 8.7 cm, and the length (in a longitudinal picture) measures 10.4 cm. The estimated minimum recidual urine volume is 0.6 x 10.4 x 6.7 x 8.7 = 77 ml.
