A pigment naevus on the proximal nail fold in a thumb of a 12-year-old boy. Regular borders, even colouring and young age of the patient speak the benign nature of the tumour. In a case like this no therapy is needed. In naevi with a deeper position the development of a pigment streak in the nail plate is possible.
