Hyperkeratotic and heavily pigmented seborrheic keratosis (verruca seborrhoica) may mimic nodular malignant melanoma. If there is any doubt in the diagnosis, excisional biopsy is indicated. Mostly, however, the typical clinical features of seborrheic keratosis allow, for example, liquid nitrogen cryotherapy without biopsy.
