Halo naevus, Sutton's naevus are synonyms for a phenomenon, where a spontaneous autoimmunological process is taking place to eliminate a pigment naevus. At the final stage only a nonpigmented patch can be seen. Almost invariably the target tumour is benign, but this type of reaction against malignant melanoma has been reported.
