Perioral dermatitis, a female rosacea-related facial eruption is most common at the age of 30–40 years. It can affect perioral, perinasal or periocular skin areas. The symptom-free zone surrounding the vermilion border is a diagnostic feature. Frequent use of facial creams and possibly also topical corticoids are the main suspected aetiology of this dermatosis, responding invariably to oral tetracyclines.
