Tinea corporis, "ringworm", is characterized by a reddish, scaly peripheral rim, and often some follicular pustules in the central area. The lesions may be single or multiple. The most common causative agents in Europe are Trichophyton rubrum, T. mentagrophytes and Microsporum canis.
