Neurodermatitis (lichen simplex chronicus) is a common itchy, chronic patch in any location, but most common in the lower legs. As a result of scratching the lesion becomes thicker and flaky. A very good combination in therapy is a potent topical corticosteroid covered with a stocking-tube impregnated with zinc ointment. This is left for one week and repeated for a total of 2 or 3 weeks.
