Shingles, or herpes zoster often erupts on the trunk, limited by the midline of the body and confined to the region of one or two dermatomes, but it may also occur on a buttock, forehead, scalp, ear, etc. The vesicles are often bleeding. Sometimes only a few vesicles are developed. Tenderness and aching precede the eruption of vesicles.
