Widespread Erythema multiforme may result from a recurrence of herpes infection, drug eruption or, as in most cases, from an unknown cause. Oral corticosteroid alleviates the condition, unless the underlying disease prevents its use. Opinion on the effect of corticoid therapy on the duration of symptoms is not unified.
