Urinary retention in an elderly man. The length of the urinary bladder measures 10.4 cm in a longitudinal ultrasonographic picture and the height (in a transverse picture) measures 6.7 cm and the width 8.7 cm. The estimated minimum recidual urine volume is 0.6 x 10.4 x 6.7 x 8.7 = 374 ml.
