Xanthelasma on the lower lid is a yellowish, often bilateral plaque with a tendency to grow. Most often the lesion is excised, but very cautious cryotherapy with liquid nitrogen can also be tried. Xanthelasma has a tendency to recur. Half of the patients have a disturbance of lipid metabolism.
