Halo naevus, naevus Sutton, naevus regrediens are synonyms of the rather common phenomenon of spontaneous disappearance of a benign naevus. An autoinflammatory phenomenon causes the loss of melanin pigment around the naevus. The same phenomenon is possible also in melanoma. In suspected cases excisional biopsy is necessary.
