Xanthelasma is an accumulation of lipids in the eyelids. 50% of patients have a disturbance in lipid metabolism. Cosmetically disturbing plaques may be operated, or treated topically by trichloroacetic acid or liquid nitrogen cryosurgery. Recurrence is more a rule than an exception.
