Trichiasis, eyelashes growing in disturbed direction, may be caused e.g. by an infection or a lid operation. A more extensive disturbance is distichiasis where the inner row of small size eyelashes leans against the eye surface. Liquid nitrogen cryosurgery, as given here, is an effective way to eradicate the disturbing cilia.
