Secondary infection of dermatitis by Staphylococcus aureus and/or pyogenic streptococci may result in a severely inflamed, crusted and exsudative condition. Wet compresses and appropriate oral antibiotics should be combined, soon followed by topical corticosteroids, possibly mixtures of corticosteroids and antibacterials.
