Plantar wart with typical papilli. Small black dots in the area are thromboses of the papillary blood vessels. There is a wide variety of therapeutic methods used to treat warts, none of which is universally effective. Because of the tendency for spontaneous healing, all treatment modalities, even the inefficient ones, continue to be used. Surgical excision should be one of the last treatment methods – to avoid unnecessary scarring.
