Hypertrophic lichen planus typically is situated in the frontal leg skin. Often solitary lesions tend to be resistant to conventional therapy. Potent corticosteroids with occlusion are preferable. Even in cases of complete clearing there tend to remain pigmentary changes - hypo- or hyper-pigmentation.
