Crusted, exceptionally florid nummular dermatitis on the back of the hand. Some patients have an atopic background, but mostly no cause initiating this itchy dermatosis is found. The response to therapy varies; sometimes combined therapy with corticoids, different UV sources and emollients is needed. There is some evidence that nummular dermatitis is more therapy-resistant in smokers.
